We've worked to recreate the (now unavailable) original Gaggia Switchbank for the original Classic - and now have the Shades Switchbank available to allow all Classic owners who have failed or broken switchbanks to rescue their machines from landfill and get the working again.
This is also a great replacement for machines that have tired looking original switchbanks, or where the original icons have worn away, or the neon lamps have failed.
The 0/1, brew and steam icons on our switches are tastefully updated and recreated with a gentle nod to the original icons - and the on/off and brew switches retain a small red neon lamp to show on/off status as well as "brew ready" status, in the same way as the original neon lamps in the original switchbank does.
Connectivity and functionality is identical to the original Classic switchbank. There are two unused terminals on the steam switch, and we provide terminal covers to protect these and avoid any unintentional contact.
Fitment of the switchbank requires none of the original switchbank components, nor the metal switchbank surround that the cup warming tray usually slots in to. All that is required is an original Classic case (with the hole to fit the switchbank into) and a cup-warming plate to slot into the redesigned retaining bracket for it.
Once installed, the switchbank is held firmly in place by the locking plastic mounting clips on the sides as well as by the installation of the cup warming tray.
We will make individual switches, and the plastic mounting frame, available as spare parts - so if you have any issues with broken switches or the frame, then these parts will be available cost effectively as individual parts and you won't have to purchase an entire new switchbank.
Due to technical differences between 110V and 220-240V switchbanks, these will be available in a 110V version and a 220-240V version for their respective markets.
This is obviously not suitable for the Classic Pro / Classic 2019 / Classic Pro Evo 2023 as the case and switch holes are different. It’s also not suitable for the RI9403 / Classic 2015 / Classic V2 - though we hope to offer a solution for the RI9403 in the coming months.
