Whilst the Gaggia Classic Pro / Evo steam wand is a pleasure to use, and really is a great upgrade over previous standard and aftermarket steam wands for the Classic - the standard steam tip on the wand is a two hole one. They work well, but we wanted to know if they could be better...
Along with many others, we looked high and low for a single hole steam tip that's compatible with the Classic Pro - but to no avail.
So, we designed and tested a range of different tips with an aim of finding the best design to both maximise steam power but also maximise the steam duration on both a standard (thermostatically controlled) Classic Pro and also a PID controlled Classic Pro. We also wanted a design that looked OEM, and not just a drilled out stainless steel screw stuck on the end!
We are now pleased to announce "The One" - a single hole steam tip for Classic Pro steam wands, exclusively available from Shades of Coffee.
Installation is as simple as unscrewing your original tip, storing it in the small padded box included with The One, and screwing The One steam tip on in place of it. The red sealing silicone O ring is included with the tip, as shown in the boxed images - and no tools are usually required (though sometimes the tips can be a tight fit, especially if never removed before, and firm finger pressure is required).
NOTE that this item is ONLY the replacement steam tip; it is ONLY compatible with the standard Gaggia Classic Pro steam wand - and no other.
Hence if you want to use The One on any other Gaggia Classic (other than a Classic Pro / Classic 2019+ / Classic Evo 2023) that doesn't already have the Classic Pro steam wand, then you would need to also install the Classic Pro steam wand linked to above. This can be fitted to any earlier Classic, and is a "bolt off / bolt on" upgrade for earlier Classics (other than the RI9403 / Classic V2 2015).
If you have damaged or broken the o-ring shipped with your The One steam tip, please check here for replacement information.
This item contains:
- a single hole steam tip with silicone O ring, to suit the Classic Pro and Classic Evo standard steam wand
- boxed in a branded, padded storage box

I bought an OPV kit and “The One”. I had hopes for the OPV, The One was more of a whim. Both were immediate successes with clear improvements.
"The One" really does make a difference, especially for someone new to steaming milk, like myself. I noticed two differences: 1) the machine is now able to provide enough steam to fully whirl and texture the microfoam for the whole time until beyond when the jug is feeling hot, unlike with the original two hole tip which would often run out of pressure. And 2) the whirl or vortex that it provides is much better than with the two hole steam tip...it can really get spinning! I'm sure experienced users can get good results with the two hole; my results were mediocre with that. But upgrading to "The One" tip was a noticeable change for me, and steaming milk is now easy rather than something frustrating.
I was really struggling in steaming milk before buying this as a new gaggia user. I watched all of the popular guides in how to steam milk and nothing worked. I installed this and was able to steam milk perfectly the first time.
Never tried the original, swapped it out straight away. Makes perfect micro foam so 5 stars.
That thing is awesome! Wasn't too sure if I should buy it initially, but figured I might aswell, with all the money I've spent on my machine already. Not a single regret. It's so much easier to get a good swirl going in the milk, since the steam obviously isn't pushing in two directions. Takes a second longer to heat it, but not much. I actually prefer it this way, as it allows for some more margin of error. It's totally idiot proof now.
The One tip is much better to oem tip, I am learning to latte art and now with this tip I can get much better results than the oem tip, totally recommended!!
This little guy is a massive upgrade. I love it and would never dream of using the OEM attachment ever again. [Soc} Thanks Sean - we love it too. It took a lot of time and effort to perfect, but it does make a huge difference to steaming power for most people - especially when you have PID controlled steam.
Just steamed my first pitcher. Wow! The difference is amazing. I don't even need to turn on full. Steamed almond milk with more forth than I've ever had. Excited to dial the steaming in.
This tip increased the quality of the foam very much so that I can understand why I failed latte art before.
This steam tip should come stock on all GCP. Drastic difference with two-hole tip. Gives full control and virtually infinite steam.
Get this steam tip! The steam power has increased and the quality of the microfoam is so much better than the two hole tip Great update well worth it

Your question:
Do you need to remove the entire wand before you can replace the tip? Or is there a way to remove the tip only? I want to know the extent of this mod. Thank youOur answer:
Thank for your question - on a Classic Pro the steam wand tip is removable, it screws on and off. The single hole tip is a replacement for the standard two hole tip, and can be swapped in around 30 seconds, usually just using fingers to unscrew one and screw on "The One". If you have an Original Classic (ie not a Pro) then we also sell the Classic Pro steam wand in its entirety (with two hole tip) - which is a bolt off / bolt on upgrade part for an original Classic.

Your question:
I don't have a PID fitted to my GCP 2019. Will swapping to this tip still improve the quality of my steaming? I'm reticent to fit a PID until my warranty runs out in 2 years' time! Thank you AFOur answer:
Hello and thanks for your question. The answer is that yes, it'll improve your steaming power and quality. It's very much like putting your finger over the end of a hosepipe. With the standard two hole steam tip, if you block one of the holes then increases the steam power. We've worked to find the ideal size of hole to provide power and give better control, along with a vertical jet of steam (rather than the two angular jets on the standard tip). So - yes - with a standard machine it really helps; but with a PID you can increase steam power even more and the results on a PID'd machine are pretty impressive (as you can see from the video that we link to on the product page).

Utterly transformative! How is it possible that changing from a 2-hole tip to a 1-hole tip could make such a difference? After 3 weeks of trying every technique, watching James Hoffman and Lance Hedrick and Coffee Kev's videos a hundred times over, I was still completely unable to get anything like acceptable foamed milk. Bought this in desperation, fitted it and the first two flat whites I made were just perfect. I'm completely flabbergasted. If you're buying a Gaggia Classic Pro, just buy this tip. You'll be so glad you did. This old man feels slightly ridiculous that such a simple thing has made me so happy!
