We looked long and hard to find the perfect milk thermometer to help you steam milk for those perfect lattes and cappuccinos. After using one of these for a few months now, we're pretty sure we've found it.

With the Shades of Coffee Digital Milk Thermometer, you can set your ideal milk temperature and start steaming  safe in the knowledge that the thermometer will beep when your target temperature has been achieved.  You can concentrate on the perfect stretching, texturing and vortex action - and not have to keep watching the thermometer.

This milk thermometer was designed and made for us by Mingle, a leading manufacturer of quality and accurate temperature measuring equipment.  It's specifically a milk thermometer for baristas wanting to achieve the very best in milk steaming, and that perfect silky microfoam.

It's available in either a FAHRENHEIT or CELSIUS version - depending on your temperature unit preference;  with preset milk target temperatures for warm milk (60C/140F), normal milk (65C/150F) and extra hot milk (70C/160F).  If you prefer to be more precise then you can set your own target temperature to exact 1 degree values.

The Digital Milk Thermometer ships with a stainless steel jug clip, for easy mounting on the side of your milk pitcher and includes the two LR44 batteries that will power it for more than 2 years of normal usage.

A durable silicone cover encases our Digital Milk Thermometer, providing some protection from steam, water and impact - though the device itself contains sensitive electronics and shouldn't be considered as waterproof.  Cleaning with a damp cloth after use is recommended - immersing it in water or putting it through a dishwasher certainly is not.

Finished in a stylish black and brushed steel appearance, the Digital Milk Thermometer is the ideal complement to a Gaggia Classic - or any other modern espresso machine - and the perfect tool for perfect steamed milk.

Your question:

How long is the probe? Just wondering if it would work in a larger jug?
Our answer:
Total probe length is about 12.5cm / just under 5”We happily use them in both 400ml (14oz) and 600ml (21oz) jugs, and it should be good in an even larger one.
